LifeWest Faculty and Staff Present Research to Integrative Medicine for the Underserved Journal Club

On July 26th, LifeWest Faulty and Staff presented their research at the Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US) journal roundtable discussion.Drs. Donna Odierna and David Currie were joined by former Program Director of Mission Trip America, Lori Pino, to discuss their study “It's the most important work we will ever do”: Chiropractic students' service learning experiences at a day laborer center in California.” The 2023 paper, co-authored with Drs. Monica Smith and Farida Savai, was published in the Journal of Chiropractic Education.

The roundtable discussion included ethical issues of research in socially disadvantaged populations, the essential role of practitioners as collaborators in the research process, the merits of qualitative research, and reflections by Dr. Currie about serving as a mentor doctor at LifeWest outreach clinics.
