Life West Nebraska Hosts 1st Service Trips Seminar

  • February 26, 2026

The Life Chiropractic College West – Nebraska campus recently hosted its first solo Seminar dedicated entirely to Service Trips, giving students a powerful look into chiropractic service on a global scale and what it truly means to live the principle of giving, doing, loving, and serving.

This special Seminar highlighted the impact of international outreach experiences, allowing students to hear firsthand accounts from peers and faculty who have participated in service initiatives abroad. Reflecting on the energy and purpose experienced during the Samagam event this past fall, presenters shared stories that brought service-based chiropractic to life.

Dr. Jen Howard and 9th Quarter student Jacee Christian opened the Seminar by sharing insights from their service experiences, painting a vivid picture of the connection, gratitude, and clinical growth that comes from serving communities with limited access to chiropractic care. Students gained perspective not only on patient care in different environments but also on the deeper cultural exchange that occurs during these trips.

Adding to the discussion, 10th Quarter student Ray Kershner shared highlights from his service trip to India through KSV. From navigating across the globe as a visually impaired traveler to experiencing authentic local cuisine, Ray described how immersion in another country expands both professional confidence and personal awareness. His reflections emphasized that service trips extend far beyond adjusting—they create lifelong memories, meaningful relationships with other Life West students, and a renewed appreciation for chiropractic’s global impact.

The Seminar concluded with an engaging Q&A session where students asked practical questions about preparation, travel expectations, packing essentials, and how to mentally and physically prepare for international service work. The conversation sparked excitement among underclassmen eager to participate in future opportunities.

More than anything, the afternoon was filled with touching stories, laughter, and reflections that captured the heart of chiropractic service. For many attendees, the Seminar transformed service trips from an abstract idea into an attainable and inspiring goal.

Hosting this first Nebraska-led Seminar marks an important milestone for the Life West Nebraska campus—demonstrating continued growth, leadership, and commitment to preparing students not only as chiropractors, but as servants to humanity.

As the campus continues to expand opportunities for experiential learning, one message resonated clearly throughout the room: chiropractic has no borders, and the opportunity to serve is limitless.
