Life West Parking Update

The College provides free parking for students in parking lots adjacent to campus. Students park their vehicles at their own risk. Parking permits are issued and updated by the Office of Student Life. Permits must be displayed at all times when parked on College property or the vehicle will be towed at the owner’s expense after two warnings. Students must park in the lots along Depot Rd and Clawiter Rd. Students, faculty and staff may not park in spaces designated for Health Center patients and visitors.

At matriculation and at the start of every quarter thereafter students must update their car registration details on the register held by the Office of Student Life. The Office of Student Life will send a reminder to all students at the start of each quarter.

The lot along Industrial Blvd is reserved for clinic Intern parking. When a student becomes a clinic Intern, they may request an Intern parking permit to replace their student permit. The Intern permit is valid to Dec. 31 and needs to be replaced for the following calendar year with a new permit in order to retain Intern parking privileges. Annual replacement permits may be obtained through the Student Life Office each year after Jan. 1. The Intern permits must be surrendered upon final graduation checkout from the Health Center.

No person is permitted to reside in their vehicle on campus per Hayward Municipal Code Sec 5-7.20W. Overnight parking of any Recreational Vehicle, Camper or Camping Trailer (even with a valid parking permit) is prohibited between 8 pm or end of classes and 6 am. Violations will result in vehicle immobilization by wheel boot. A fine of $50 per day must be paid before boot removal. Any vehicle booted for three continuous days will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Parking lots are patrolled regularly by Life West Security or their authorized security contractors. When a vehicle is found parked without a permit, parked in the incorrect parking lot or parked overnight for an extended period of time (three days) without prior written authorization from Facilities Department (excluding Recreational Vehicles, Campers or Camping Trailers, which are always prohibited overnight), a violation sticker will be placed on the vehicle and the license plate will be recorded. All violations are reported daily by Facilities/Security to Student Life Office daily who will determine if the car belongs to a student, faculty or staff member and contact them directly. A second violation will result in a second violation notice and reported to Student Life Office who will again contact the student, faculty or staff. A third violation will result in the car being towed at the owner’s expense. Towed vehicles may be reclaimed by calling All Day Towing at 510-471-2500.

Multiple violations of the above policy may result in forfeiture of the parking permit. If you have a new car and need to update your information, see Mimi in Student Life.
