Life West Faculty Give Back to Community and Military Families

At Life West, service is more than a value—it’s a way of life. Over the past two weeks, faculty members and clinical interns from the Nebraska campus have been living that mission by stepping up to support both local families and the military community through two meaningful events.

May 22 – Lending a Hand at the Food Bank of the Midlands

On Thursday, May 22, Life West faculty volunteered at the Food Bank of the Midlands, offering time and teamwork to help those facing food insecurity across the region. With sleeves rolled up and hearts wide open, our faculty joined community members to sort, pack, and prepare food for distribution to families in need. Their contribution was part of the broader Life West mission to serve humanity and create positive ripples throughout the community.

May 29 – Honoring Service at the Offutt Military Appreciation Picnic

Just one week later, on Thursday, May 29, faculty members and student interns participated in the Offutt Advisory Board Military Appreciation Picnic, held at the Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch. This high-spirited event was a vibrant celebration of gratitude for our service members and their families. Life West representatives joined dozens of volunteers in creating a memorable day filled with laughter, connection, and appreciation.

Attendees enjoyed an array of activities, including pony rides, jousting games, hayrack rides, bounce houses, and classic picnic fun. A hot meal was served to military families, and raffle prizes added to the excitement. The day provided a moment of joy and community bonding for those who sacrifice so much in service to others.

A Continued Commitment to Service

These events are just the beginning. Life West remains committed to building strong connections in the Bellevue and greater Omaha communities. Whether by supporting local families through food assistance or standing beside our military heroes in appreciation, our faculty, staff, and students continue to live out our core values—above all, to give, do, love & serve.
