Daniel R. Coates III (Coach Coates)
Coach Daniel R. Coates III, widely known as Coach Coates, is a World Champion athlete, dedicated educator, and motivational speaker who believes that true achievement—in life, academics, and health—begins with alignment.
Foundation & Family
Born in Bitburg, Germany, at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Coach Coates is the son of Daniel R. and Eva Faye Coates. Family is a cornerstone of his life; he is the brother of Dr. Derek C. Coates and a proud father and grandfather, with two amazing sons, Kellin (38) and Daniel R. Coates IV (33), a step-daughter, Cherokee (29), two nieces, Alia (24) and Janee (23), and one grandson, Amir (10).
Athletic and Academic Excellence
Coach Coates is a former World Age Group Freestyle Wrestling Champion and an All-American. He attended Cal State Fullerton as a student-athlete, where he earned a conference championship and was named to the All-Academic Team before graduating with a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
A Legacy of Mentorship
For over two decades, Coach Coates dedicated his career to empowering high school student-athletes. His roles included:
- High school wrestling and football coach.
 - Substitute teacher, academic counselor, and mentor.
 - Working with the Department of Social Services to support abused, abandoned, and neglected children.

He is the creator of the Academic Achievement program, a curriculum still utilized today that focuses on developing the whole person. The program centers on essential life skills such as meditation, self-reflection, character building, and accountability for students striving for greatness.
The Journey to Alignment
Approximately eight years ago, Coach Coates's professional journey intentionally collided with a profound personal health transformation. Faced with a diagnosis that qualified him for disability due to morbid obesity and excessive weight, he refused to accept the prognosis. By embracing a chiropractic outlook on life and committing to alignment, he successfully shed 160 lbs. His current mission is living proof that once you are truly in alignment—mentally, physically, and spiritually—anything is possible.
