Guided by our values to **give, to do, to love, and to serve from our own abundance**, we're excited to invite our faculty and staff to participate in **two Community Service Days** this summer! Whether you're passionate about protecting our local environment or helping fight food insecurity, these volunteer opportunities are a chance to make a meaningful impact while connecting with your Life West colleagues outside of the workplace. ## 🌿 Keep Hayward Clean Help us beautify the city we proudly call home by partnering with the **City of Hayward** for a community cleanup. Together, we'll spend the morning helping keep our neighborhoods clean while enjoying fresh air, teamwork, and the satisfaction of giving back. **Saturday, August 22, 2026** **8:00 AM – 12:00 PM** **Tentative Check-In Location:** Palma Ceia Park 27600 Decatur Way, Hayward, CA --- ## 🍎 Volunteer at the Alameda County Community Food Bank Join us for an afternoon of service at the **Alameda County Community Food Bank**, where volunteers will sort, package, and prepare food for distribution to individuals and families throughout Alameda County. Every box packed and every item sorted helps support neighbors experiencing food insecurity. **Friday, August 28, 2026** **12:00 PM – 4:00 PM** *(Volunteer orientation begins at 12:30 PM)* **Alameda County Community Food Bank** 7900 Edgewater Drive Oakland, CA 94621 --- ## Why Volunteer? Community Service Days are a wonderful opportunity to: - Give back to our local community. - Connect with faculty and staff from across campus. - Build relationships outside of the workplace. - Live out the Life West mission through meaningful service. - Have fun while making a lasting impact. Employees may participate in **one or both events**. ### A Few Reminders - Supervisor approval is required if volunteering during scheduled work hours. - Both events qualify for **paid volunteer service hours** (up to **16 hours annually**). - HR will record approved volunteer hours following each event. ## Join Us! We hope you'll consider spending a few hours serving alongside your fellow Life West colleagues this August. Together, we can make a positive difference in our community while strengthening the culture of service that makes Life West so special. To reserve your spot, please email **Salena Guerra at sguerra@lifewest.edu**. Additional event details and volunteer logistics will be shared with registered participants as each event approaches.
